* I’m always semi-surprised by which PODs generate the most e-mail, and this one was a definite surprise. (A lot of the e-mail was from people responding to my tongue-in-cheek question at the end of the caption. Needless to say, I removed the question.) In any event, a helpful reader explained what the pictographs are supposed to mean. He even sent me a picture of the real sign. Domo, Kaijuu-san.
