Actually, a Chinese friend of mine explained something to me, during my trip to China. He said that the 1 child limit is a myth. The reality is that couples are opting for one child, (Particularly boys) because they want government services.

He knows many people (Particularly farmers, and other rural types) who have more than one child, and the only major negative is that only one child is given free state-supplied education, medical coverage, etc. It’s not like the extra children are taken from them, or harmed, or left parent-less after their parents are arrested… No, the only punishment (From what I was told) is the extra child, with no government care.

However their culture does heavily influence them to choose to abort or abandon girls, or any child with a defect, and more importantly, to satisfy themselves with only one child, who will be given an education, and medical care.

(Admit it… If your child would not be granted an education, you might think the same way.)

Yeah, we don’t do much in the way of body hair–certainly not in the patterns on that doll, which looks like it has suspenders. (And certainly not in that COLOR.) Why not? Dunno: just got bred out of the gene pool somehow. (It may start coming back in now that so many Chinese men are sending away for Russian mail-order brides. One-child limit? Somewhat good idea. One-child limit combined with established and well-known cultural preference for sons, leading to significantly more single men than women?–and many of those men spoiled brats, since he’s the only kid to dote over for TWO sets of grandparents? Some Chinese WOMEN are sending away for Russian mail-order brides! Boy, am I glad I was born in America.)

1. Correct me if I am wrong but aren’t Asians especially Asian women notorious for very little body hair? Do the makers of this doll have body hair envy?

2. Yeah, that is exactly what I want for my kid! Here honey, here’s a nice sharp razor, take your doll in the next room and shave it, be careful; dolly don’t like razor burn… WTF?
