Actually they are dogs…they are not thinking anything, unless these two dogs are the only dogs on the planet that have become self aware…not likely.
Dog lovers and other strange animal loving people are always putting human emotions, attitudes and phobias on their animals and other people’s animals, too!!
This in itself is disturbing….

I AM moving past the tolerator stage…I’ve been married to the same wonderful woman for the past 15 years…We had FIVE dogs, a cat and a pair of ferrets…oh, and don’t forget the pair of rabbits and the lone rabbit…I am well past tolerator…or maybe I just love my wife.
With that menagerie there should be no doubt that you love your wife. Acceptance might be more apt than tolerance!
Trying for tongue in cheek. Anthropomorphizing “inanimate” objects is pretty universal and it is one of the ways in which we humans make sense of the world (try not seeing shapes in clouds or a Rorschach test, just clouds and ink/paper). There is a very marked difference between a dog’s reaction to a bowl of its favorite dog food and a copy of the complete works of Shakespeare.
These dogs look like they are they are anticipating an hour long dissertation on the dehydration/polymerization of pigmented liquid wall coatings or the growth processes of ornamental cereals.
A dog isn’t inanimate…
