The “definition of tolerance” is http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tolerance. For those too lazy to click the link, it says:
1. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one’s own; freedom from bigotry.
2. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one’s own.
3. interest in and concern for ideas, opinions, practices, etc., foreign to one’s own; a liberal, undogmatic viewpoint.
While your stance on comments probably conforms to the second definition you are way off on the other two. To paraphrase Meat Loaf, “One outta three ain’t good.”
The fact that you allow people to post comments that don’t agree with you doesn’t make you any less of an immature, racist, bigot asshole. It just means you like the attention and, perhaps, enjoy a bully pulpit from which to belittle those people.
The real problem with a post like the one you did yesterday is it further solidifies the xenophobic attitudes of the public. How about teaching a little true tolerance? I’ve known Muslims, Christians, Jews, Jehovah’s Witnesses, motorcyclists, Republicans, Democrats, agnostics, gay, straight, and bi who were all very nice people. I’ve also known people in all those groups who were assholes. Perhaps you should try to paint with a slightly finer brush instead of painting an entire group based on the actions of 19 who, by any common sense reasoning, were acting at best out of some fanatical interpretation of the doctrine.
And, in the interest of full disclosure, I’m not Muslim. I self-identify as agnostic.
Truth be told, Nick has, in one way or another, given the just about every type of person who has blind faith I can think of. While “fuck you Islam”, seems rather harsh, Nick is not the type of person who I would lump in with the group of people who are racist or bogots. He simply chose now to “paint” his opinion about a specific group.
Yes, there are plenty of people who follow the path of Islam who I would describe as good people but, if today, a dude started having convulsions and later said he saw an angel, who would remember him?

There’s a difference between tolerance and stupidity. While it doesn’t make sense to blame ALL Muslims for the stupid actions of some (like blaming all Americans for one idiot’s failed attempt at a provocative movie), we should also realize that there is NO way we can ever convince the majority of people in the Arab world. No matter what we try to ‘win friends’ we’re destined to fail. We need to get out of there and quit throwing money away trying to ‘make peace’!

Final thought which no one will probably read. The attacks of 9-11 pick your year was the combined failure of 4 administrations to understand history and learn from it.
